Part of what is impressive about “MMMBop” reaching #1 in 1997 is how the idea of singles have changed since music has gone digital. “MMMBop” was a #1 when singles were more expensive than a $1.29 download. If I remember correctly, most singles came with more than one song, usually a remix and b-side, and generally cost around $2.99. Hanson was a very young band with a young audience in 1997. The singles purchased to bring “MMMBop” to #1 were likely done by parents and saved allowances.

They had pretty long hair back in the day ;) Don’t like the darker shade now

  19. tayzbeth says:

@00youknow Maybe you should consider that they have had a successful career making music, money, working with a wide range of well respected musicians for over 15 years and they have made millions and have thousands of committed fans across the globe- YES they are artists – maybe you should actually listen to their music before you judge :) – that is all said with respect for you.

  20. Blueknightex says:

These guys are looking much finer now. I hope that they have another Billboard #1 someday.

  21. 00youknow says:

Did Hanson just refer to themselves as “Artists”???

    buhahahahha
